Located in the breathtaking Yarra Valley where fern glades and forest are in abundance lives contemporary Jeweller Krista McRae. Krista’s acclaimed work combines and draws attention to the creative process that exists in both art and jewellery making. Each piece is created using the finest of materials to create wearable art.
A brand refresh coincided with her move to the Yarra Valley. With a growing practice the branding needed to align with her aesthetics and audience. At the forefront of our mind’s was the need to create a system that would not detract from her pieces.
APPROACH
Krista creates unique and personalised pieces that tell a story of their beholder. Her carefully conceived and composed pieces are the translation of a simple line drawing into an object. Sometimes the pieces are employed with precious and semi-precious metals and gems, drawing attention to their material form and also their design and construction.
Krista's design approach became the starting point of the visual identity. Simple line drawings of gems have been used subtly throughout printed collateral. These line drawings have then been developed further into detailed illustrations of the series of gem cuts used within her work.
Emphasise was placed on Krista’s extensive in-house collection of gems, specialising in diamonds and Australian sapphires. She works closely with gem cutters to ensure the best quality is achieved. All stones are ethically sourced.
Colour
Referencing the humble grey lead pencil (HB) the colour palette is constructed of shades of grey. This neutral palette contrasts against brighter colours. Enabling the brighter colours present within the exquisite detailed images of each piece of jewellery, and the lively drawings from Krista’s young daughter Zahra to sing.
